The Friends of the Maple River has three committees:
The Monitoring Committee works on the development and operation of a complete monitoring plan that will: support education efforts at the local, state and national levels, support public and private watershed related research, and support local watershed improvements when problems are identified.
The Watershed Improvement Committee works on river clean-up projects, river clearing projects to allow for navigation, dam projects, and collaborates with other groups to develop additional launch sites.
The Education Committee works to inform the public of the problems and unique features and opportunities associated with the Maple River, sponsors float trips and meets with local residents to obtain historical information on the river and watershed
